What we believe

Do you ever struggle to find the right words to explain something? Speaking isn't always easy and yet it is our responsibility to always be ready to explain the hope that we have in Christ who saves us and desires for the whole world to be drawn to the Holy One. Thankfully God gave us words through many faithful men and women of faith in order that we might all proclaim, as one Body, the saving truth of our faith.  We believe that God's Word is the primary authority for our faith and practice.  We believe in the triune God who is one, revealed in three persons. God is the creator, the origin, sustainer and ruler of all creation. We affirm that Jesus is both Lord and Savior.  Jesus as savior lets us know that it is through Christ that we are reconciled to God.  Jesus as Lord reminds us that we are to apprentice our lives to him and put into practice what we are taught. The Holy Spirit is God's presence in our midst constantly guiding, challenging, comforting and supporting us. The Church is Jesus' extension into our world today making disciples for the transformation of the world. This builds God's Kingdom which is both a present reality and a future hope.

We join all Christians in affirming both the Nicene Creed and Apostle's Creed. They are both wonderful statements that truthfully communicate what we believe. Though many Christian traditions and denominations exist, we should all hold in common and affirm these creeds as they articulate necessary Christian belief according to both the Hebrew Scriptures and New Testament. Furthermore, we are Methodists and you can find out more about our beliefs here
